Attractions in Portsmouth
Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
Portsmouth's biggest attraction, the Historic Dockyard is a real bobby-dazzler. Set in the heart of the country's most important naval port, it comprises three stunning ships and a clutch of museums. Together they make for a full day's outing. The all-inclusive ticket lets you scramble about all the ships and museums.
Spinnaker Tower
The views of Portsmouth don't get any better than those from the lofty platforms of the 170m Spinnaker Tower, a soaring sail-shaped structure rising over Gunwharf Quays. You can get to Viewing Deck 1 (with a glass floor), hi-tech Deck 2, or the Crow's Nest, via internal and external lifts. Not for vertigo sufferers or BASE jumpers.
The Point
A short hop over the water from Gunwharf Quays, but a world apart in atmosphere, the Point is home to the characterful cobbled streets of Old Portsmouth. It is populated by salty-dog pubs with outdoor seating ideally positioned to watch the passing stream of ferries and navy ships, and to ponder the Spinnaker Tower from a new angle.
